The partitionDisk verb runs an command-line version of Disk Utility, allowing you to create multiple partitions on a single disk.

How to Rename a Disk Partition in OSX

Partition sizes can be specified in gigabytes with the G suffix 2 G or terabytes with the T suffix 2 T. Volume1 and Volume2 will each take up 25 percent of the disk, and Volume3 will occupy the remainder.

Open up the Terminal app, and enter the following command, replacing "old" with your old name, and "new" with your new desired name. Note that depending on your set up, that is if your user home directory is not in the root partition, you may have to update your home directory path in System Preferences.
